Dangote Partners Honeywell For $16 Billion Kenya Refinery And 1,000MW Power Plant In Lamu

Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote has partnered with US-based Honeywell Technologies to develop a massive energy project in Kenya.

According to Morning Brief reports on Wednesday, the partnership involves a $300 million initial deal to advance the planned $16 billion, 700,000 barrels per day refinery and 1,000 megawatt power plant in Lamu, Kenya.

The project which is expected to be one of Africa's largest refinery projects is located in Lamu, Kenya. Reports indicate that the project is moving forward despite ongoing local land disputes in the area.

If completed, the Lamu refinery would boost East Africa's refining capacity and complement Dangote's 650,000 bpd refinery in Lekki, Lagos.

The development comes as Dangote Group continues its expansion drive across the African energy sector.
