Subsidy Savings At Work? Presidency Says 1,000-Soldier Tinubu Barracks Funded From Fuel Subsidy Removal

According to Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media, Dr. Sunday Dare, the ongoing *Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks Phase II in Abuja* na direct benefit of subsidy savings.
He talk this one on Tuesday, September 30, 2026 when him and Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media, Otega Ogra, go inspect the project for Asokoro, Abuja.
What is Tinubu Barracks Phase II?
Na massive military housing project wey go provide accommodation for *1,000 soldiers* and their families. When fully occupied, e go serve *more than 6,000 people*.
The project include:
- 30 blocks of family quarters
- 6 blocks for senior officers accommodation
- Army club and market (MAMI market)
- Bridges, drainage system and other infrastructure
- More than 5,000 workers dey work for site presently

How much be the subsidy savings?
According to Federal Government data, from June 2023 to December 2025, Nigeria save about *N15.8 trillion* from subsidy removal:
- FG collect N5.43 trillion
- State governments collect N6.52 trillion
- Local governments collect N3.88 trillion
But government also talk say e no be free money, because within same period, dem spend extra N30.64 trillion for wage awards, debt servicing, road projects like Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Abuja-Kaduna, and electricity subsidies.
