547 Souls Gone In One Friday: The Borgu Mosque Massacre Niger State Government Doesn't Want You To Believe
It was supposed to be a peaceful Friday. A holy day.
Friday, August 21st, 2026. Dekara District, Borgu, Niger State. Hundreds of men kneel inside 4 mosques, praying Jummat. No one knew death was already waiting for them inside the bush.
Suddenly - GUNSHOTS.
Eyewitnesses say heavily armed bandits storm the mosques like a movie. No mercy. They surrounded all four mosques at once - Gbenji, Giagbasso, Dekara, Kpenya. Before the Chief Imam could finish his prayer, they were already inside.
They didn't just come to kill. They came to PACK people like goods.
341 people dragged from Gbenji alone.
104 from Sabon Gida.
88 from Dekara - they even carried the Chief Imam, Adamu Attahiru.
Others from Kpenya and Gbebara.
547 people. In ONE AFTERNOON.
The bandits marched them deep into the deadly Kainji Lake National Park Forest - one of the most dangerous forests in Nigeria. Till today, nobody has seen them.
Then, two days later, a chilling video drops. The bandits boast: "We have 500 worshippers."
Families watched the video and screamed - "Na my papa be that! Na my brother!"
But here is the twist wey dey make Nigerians vex:
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago came out and said, "It's a lie. It's social media hype. Na only 63 people dem carry."
63? But community don release FULL LIST - name by name, village by village, 547 names with their families crying.
Borgu Chairman also said "a little above 60".
So who dey lie? The community wey dey cry, or government wey dey count?
As we dey talk now, mothers never sleep, children never go mosque again, and the forest still dey hold 547 souls.
And this no be the only one. Same week, 47 farmers kidnapped for Mariga, 40 women for Zamfara, and 78 school children still dey inside bush for Borno since May.
Nigeria is bleeding.
Question for you: If 547 people disappear for your village mosque, will you keep quiet?
